There’s something special about walking into a small butcher shop and asking for a special cut of meet, the opportunity to get to know the actual owner and of course to support a local entrepreneur. For years Bay Roberts (Coley’s Point) had one , Mercers Meat Market was a fixture in the community, your “go to” place for excellent cuts of meat. Mercer’s has long since closed and although there are supermarkets in town that offer wonderful product I felt there was a void , until now. Old Time Butcher Shop is now open and cutting delicious cuts of steak, making amazing pork sausage and white puddings and plenty more!!
I had a opportunity to visit this weekend and discovered many of their culinary treasures.
Oh did I mention they have amazing local eggs? Produce? Seafood?

In House pork and garlic sausage are delish!!!
The white puddings were wicked, the flavor was deep but I needed to poke some holes in them as some of the casings burst.
Of course steak cuts are huge at a butcher shop and did not disappoint, the steaks are cut to order and the quality is second to none. I know a thing or two about BBQ and I have to say the beef was flavorful and tender.
End result? a amazing, tasty streak from a butcher doing good in Bay Roberts NL , CB Highway Bay Roberts
