Annie’s Harbour Restaurant 128 Main Street , Twillingate NL

Recently I went on a “staycation” with my wife and daughter to Twillingate , Newfoundland and Labrador. A beautiful community and region with so many hidden treasures. It was nice to take our time and drive around exploring the little communities in the region . It is also nice to come back to our house rental and relax , have a beverage knowing there is an inviting restaurant across the street to try. Annie’s Harbour Restaurant is perfectly centred in Twillingate (in my opinion) , situated on the waterfront  next to Twillingate Adventure Tours , (I recommend booking a tour, it was fantastic!)

We selected the perfect week to visit this part of the island, the weather conditions were perfect and afforded us the rare opportunity to eat outside at approximately 8 pm.

Annie’s had a nice selection of beer, of course I had to go local with a beer from Split Rock Brewery. I love red ales, plenty of flavour and crispness, a perfect beer to enjoy on a warm summers evening.

We tried this crab dip and chips, it was creamy and tasty and a nice start to the dining experience.

I ordered the fish tacos next, simply delicious, the cod was so light and fresh and had a nice crunch. The mango salsa paired well with the cod and it brightened the taco but not overwhelming it. The taco shell was the perfect vessel to deliver this cod goodness, it had a slight crunch but not brittle like some of the store bought shells.

My wife had the pan fried cod and mandarin and spinach salad. My wife has a severe allergy to MSG so she had to limit her choices, the staff were very accommodating as a result my bride enjoyed her meal.

Annie’s Harbour Restaurant is a inviting , friendly and clean restaurant and worth visiting.

High Points

  • Fantastic location, highly recommend eating outside if at all possible
  • Clean and lots of space for social distancing
  • Friendly servers
  • Service was prompt and food was served in a timely manner

Low Points

  • No low points

I do have a suggestion based on my preference.  Although the crab dip was tasty I would have liked a more crab texture, it seemed somewhat too processed. (would have loved to get a piece/chunk of crab) Having said that it was delicious and many may prefer that texture.

 I give Annie’s Restaurant a 4.5 out of 5
