The Grand Pizzeria and Bar 74 George St. Ottawa, Ontario

My Ottawa Food Experiences (continued)

After a full day of learning more about Ottawa, the NCC and Communities in Bloom it was nice to explore a little more of Ottawa’s food and beverage culture.

Chateau Laurier lunch during the Communities in Bloom Symposium was amazing!!

Chateau Laurier lunch during the Communities in Bloom Symposium was amazing!!

While walking from the Chateau Laurier (amazing lunch there too btw)
We spotted the Highlander Scottish Pub, we decided to pop in for a quick one, and check out the scene.
The pub was sort of small but cozy and the bartender was very welcoming and engaging. after a quick look at the beer menu we decided to try the tasting flight of beer and cider. We got to select four types of beer and cider of a extensive list, this was a great way to try local and imported offerings from around the world.
I great place to drop in for a affordable pint or stick around for a meal.
A great way to try some new beer and cider! Four small glasses equaled a pint, very affordable!

Last evening a large group of us visited The Grand Pizzeria and Bar 74 George St. It was a semi quiet restaurant (at least when we arrived) but quickly became a bustling place when we all arrived. Hats off to the servers who were quick to take care of 18-20 of us (with no reservation I might add), they were very efficient in taking our orders and getting our drinks.
There was some amazing dishes ordered especially the pizza’s, everyone seemed to be very satisfied with their choices.

I ordered the Cannelloni ,I guess I did not read the menu very well as I would of thought a side (salad or bread) would of accompanied it. The pasta was cooked nicely and was tasty although it seemed a little over seasoned for me.
I certainly would recommend this restaurant to any of my readers who would like a great pizza, pasta or sit and have a nice glass of wine.

High Points

• Staff were very accommodating, friendly and fast
• Relaxing environment
• Nice selection of beer and wine

Low points
• (really not a low point) Would of loved a side or even some bread to go with the Cannelloni, (in defence of the servers, they had their hands full with such a large crowd)
• Cannelloni, a little over seasoned, maybe the parm was out of a shaker which tends to be more salty.

I am very much enjoying my Ottawa food experiences so far!! Tonight? I hear there is good BBQ on Murray Street!! I will update you on that tomorrow!
